Description
Tree Agate
A common Silica Mineral – white with green dendritic patterns.
Agates are formations made of Chalcedony and Quartz, normally sporting layers of varying colours across their formations. They are the result of Silica-rich ground water seeping into the cavities in igneous volcanic rock, transporting minerals that harden in layers over the course of many years. The unpredictable nature of how these stones are formed creates concentric banding and colour unique to each deposit, adding a ‘personal’ characteristic to jewellery.
In Dendritic Agates, the dark inclusions through the stones matrix are grown due to trace amounts of metal fusing with the Quartz. It is these impurities that give the stones their unique qualities, particularly when highly polished.
Tree Agate is different from other Agates, as the dendritic patterns across the stone create foliage like markings, instead of banding.
Agates are commonly used to treat problems with eyesight, hair and hearing. They are also used to alleviate stress – particularly encouraging restful sleep and pleasant dreams.
