Brecciated Jasper XL 2. Carved and polished statement piece made of high grade Brecciated Jasper. Jasper is an aggregate stone, mainly composed of Quartz and Iron. The presence of Iron Oxide (the mineral responsible for its rich, red colouring) pigments the compound, resulting in its distinctive tones and patterns across the surface. Snow Quartz inclusions appear throughout this piece giving the range of scarlet colours depth and creating a stunning contrast between the darker and lighter tones. The name ‘brecciated’ comes from the word ‘breccia’. This term is given when rocks composed of several different fragments are naturally melded together, creating banding and veins within its matrix.

Jasper has deep roots in our civilisation. It was known to be a stone of power and protection in Ancient Egyptian times. Stated in the Christian bible to be adorned on the breastplate of Aaron (first high priest). The stone was also used by Amazonian warriors, as a stone of courage and endurance during battle.

This free-standing sculpture will make an ideal statement piece.
