Description
Green Chalcedony
Microcrystalline Quartz – olive opaque green.
Chalcedony is the host crystal to an incredibly wide variety of gemstones, in which each colour has been categorised and renamed. It is the inclusions/presence of other minerals and impurities that change the crystal into different formations, creating pigments and markings that can be moved into more familiar groups such as Carnelian, Agate, Jasper and Aventurine. Aggregate stones may include microscopic grains of Chalcedony, particularly if they have grown in a Silica-rich environment.
Chalcedony refers to a microcrystalline Quartz with pale colouring, ranging from blue to violet. Green Chalcedony colouring is the result of trace amounts of Nickel growing through the deposit.
Chalcedony is associated with bringing tranquillity, as it is thought to relieve depression and irritability by stimulating optimism and goodwill. It is generally used alongside treatments to alleviate physical problems in the throat and neck, particularly concerning discomfort caused by extensive vocal use.
