Description

Manganese

A sedimentary/metamorphic rock – silver, grey nuggets with a metallic finish.

Manganese is a metallic element that is commonly used in conjunction with Iron and Steel as an alloy agent. Known to be quite brittle, this stone appears on the periodic table with the chemical symbol ‘Mn’. It is mostly associated with the purple colouring in Amethyst, as the presence of Manganese is responsible for changing base Rock Crystal into other varieties of Quartz. It is a very common chemical in nature, as it can be easily oxidised by water or heat, and morphed into a range of other minerals. These secondary minerals will be integral to the formation of many rock deposits.

As Manganese is an ore commonly used in conjunction with other metals, it has been known to promote bonding and co-operation within a group, as well as inspiring creativity and spontaneity.
