Description

Sulphur Quartz

Sulphur is a chemical element with the symbol ‘S’ on the periodic table. It is commonly found in sedimentary rock around volcanic vents and fissures, in which streams of high temperatures and gases place layers to form a deposit. As it contains the ability to easily bond with many types of minerals, Sulphur is found in as a base mineral in a variety of rocks – for example Sulphur Quartz. The pale yellow colouring of this specimen is a combination of both minerals, creating a semi-translucent rock with a highly polished finish.

This stone is thought to be highly detoxifying, particularly alongside treatments for high fevers and infections.
