Description

Labradorite Heart

A calcium enriched Feldspar mineral – green-grey colour with bright blue and gold flashes.

Labradorite is an incredibly unique stone that draws its ‘semi-precious’ status from an unusual characteristic – while the background matrix is a very dull smoky grey, large areas of the stone are covered with a iridescent display. This is caused by light diffracting from the surface of two alternating Feldspars within the stone, creating an array known as the ‘schiller’, or ‘labradorescence’ effect. The colour is not the result of reflective pigments from the stone itself, but from colour-filtered light being bounced back towards the eye.

Labradorite is commonly used alongside treatment for mental health or disorders of the brain, as it may help to reduce anxiety and stress while promoting mental stimulation.
